I love it when people ask me what kind of meditation I practice to be so calm all the time. Well, none. I simply respect my body’s balance and pay attention to the little signs. And believe me, by the time you notice something is wrong, it means your body has been sending you the signals for a long time. It doesn’t happen overnight, you know?
I was fortunate that my tumor turned out to be benign but the whole process of being diagnosed and waiting for the result of a biopsy really gave me the time to think about life and how I wanted to live it from then on. I didn’t know how long I had to live at that time, so I took it as an opportunity to re-evaluate some of my past actions.
I weighed the pros and cons of my job then, what I wanted to do with my life if I was lucky to survive cancer, and how I would definitely respect my body’s delicate balance once and for all. If you think about it, these aren’t difficult changes to make, but we tend to have our priorities focused on something else. Usually, those mean more money, more success, and bigger careers. In the end, what does it matter? Not much. That was my wake-up call.
In the process of regaining balance, I discovered the organic Chaga benefits and began to drink wild Chaga mushroom tea every day. I know they call it the anti cancer Chaga but I don’t think my recovery had anything to do with it. I did notice changes in my immune system, so that might have had something to do with it.
